Thermostat Recycling Corp

The Thermostat Recycling Corporation (TRC) is a non-profit stewardship organization that facilitates and manages the collection and proper disposal of mercury-containing thermostats. Originally founded in 1998 by Honeywell, White-Rodgers and General Electric as a voluntary venture, their mission to promote the safe collection and proper disposal of mercury-containing thermostats. Today 31 manufacturers support the program. They have a more than 3,400 businesses and communities in 47 states are enrolled in the collection program. TRC and its partners have collected over 1.7 million mercury-containing thermostats, which has kept 8 tons of mercury out of the waste stream.

First Pier recently partnered with TRC to launch a new website to help them better serve their mission, with well organized information for their various audiences. For example, there's a zip search for a consumer looking to recycle an old thermostat. And then there's a section for promotional materials for a collection site to better advertise their participation in the program.
