Shopify Plus is priced from $2,300 a month on a three-year term, or $2,500 a month on a one-year term. That is the published figure, and it is where most cost articles stop. It is also the smallest of the four numbers that decide what Plus actually costs you.

Everything below comes from Shopify's own pricing page and help documentation, checked in September 2026. Where Shopify does not publish a figure, this guide says so rather than filling the gap.

The published price

  • $2,500/month on a one-year term.
  • $2,300/month on a three-year term.
  • In other currencies: CAD $3,650 / $3,400, EUR €2,250 / €2,100.

Against Shopify Advanced at $299/month, the premium is roughly $24,000 a year on the three-year term. That is the number the rest of the decision has to justify.

The variable fee nobody can quote you

Shopify states that "more complex, higher volume businesses switch to a variable platform fee based on their revenue and business model." It does not publish the percentage, the revenue threshold at which it starts, or the cap.

This matters because a great many articles — agency sites included, and an earlier version of this page — quote precise figures for all three. Those numbers are not from Shopify. If your volume is high enough that a revenue-based fee is on the table, the only reliable source is your Shopify account team. Ask them for your actual rate in writing before you sign a term.

Payment processing: where the real money is

This is the line that most often decides whether Plus pays for itself.

  • Using Shopify Payments: no additional Shopify transaction fee. You pay card processing only.
  • Using a third-party gateway: you pay your processor's fees plus 0.20% per transaction to Shopify, which Shopify attributes to security and compliance costs.

The comparison that matters is against your current plan, not against zero. Lower plans are charged a higher third-party rate — check your plan's current figure on Shopify's pricing page, because these change. If a meaningful share of your volume runs through Stripe, Braintree, or a gateway you are contractually required to use, the drop to 0.20% is usually the single largest saving in the upgrade, and it scales directly with revenue.

The inverse is just as important: if nearly all your volume already goes through Shopify Payments, this saving does not exist for you, and a large part of the financial case for Plus disappears with it. That is the most common reason an upgrade fails to pay for itself.

What the platform fee includes

  • Expansion stores. Your main store and 9 expansion stores are included. Beyond that it is $300/month per additional store, or a revenue share across all stores.
  • Unlimited staff accounts. Useful for large teams, rarely decisive on its own.
  • Retail. The first 20 POS Pro locations are included.
  • Higher API limits. The GraphQL Admin API runs at 100 points per second on standard plans and 1,000 on Plus — a tenfold increase, not the 2× that circulates widely. Shopify for enterprise is 2,000.
  • Checkout branding. The Checkout Branding API requires a Plus plan or a development store.
  • Launchpad and Organization Admin. Scheduling for drops and sales events; central management of multiple stores and permissions.
  • Support. 24/7 priority phone and chat with faster response targets.

Two things you are probably not paying Plus for

Both appear on most "what you get with Plus" lists. Neither is Plus-only any more, and budgeting for Plus on their account is a mistake.

Shopify Flow. Shopify describes it as a free app available on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus. The Send HTTP Request action needs Grow or above, and custom tasks from partner apps are Plus-only — but the automation itself is not.

B2B. Company accounts, company locations, net payment terms, ACH, vaulted cards, quantity rules and price breaks, draft-order-to-invoice and PO numbers are all available on Basic, Grow and Advanced, capped at three active catalogs. Plus lifts that cap and adds customer-level pricing, deposits, partial payments and per-fulfillment payment requests. If your B2B requirement is a handful of wholesale accounts on net terms, you do not need Plus for it.

The costs that are not on the pricing page

Shopify's fee is the predictable part. These are the lines that vary by store, and we are not going to invent precise figures for them — the honest answer is that they depend entirely on what you are running.

  • Apps. Plus replaces some app functionality natively, but most merchants at this scale still carry a meaningful monthly app bill — email and SMS, reviews, returns, loyalty, subscriptions. Audit what Plus lets you retire before you assume it shrinks.
  • Implementation. Migration, checkout work, custom Functions, headless builds and integrations are project costs, not subscription costs, and they usually exceed the first year of platform fees. Scope them before you commit to a term.
  • Theme and design. A premium theme is a small one-off; a custom storefront is not.
  • The people. Priority support answers platform questions. It does not build integrations, run your migration, or own your roadmap.

Is the premium worth it?

The short version: at roughly $24,000 a year over Advanced, Plus pays for itself when the fee saving on third-party processing is large, or when a Plus-only capability is a hard requirement rather than a nice-to-have. Revenue alone is a poor test — a $5M store running entirely on Shopify Payments with a standard checkout may get very little from the upgrade, while a smaller store locked to an external gateway can clear the premium on fees alone.

The full break-even reasoning, including the revenue thresholds and the four factors that actually drive the decision, is in our guide to whether Shopify Plus is worth it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Shopify Plus cost per month?

$2,500 a month on a one-year term or $2,300 a month on a three-year term, as published by Shopify. Higher-volume businesses move to a variable platform fee based on revenue and business model, which Shopify does not publish — any specific percentage or cap quoted elsewhere is not sourced from Shopify.

What is the transaction fee on Shopify Plus?

There is no additional Shopify transaction fee when you use Shopify Payments. With a third-party gateway you pay your processor's fees plus 0.20% per transaction to Shopify.

How many stores do you get with Shopify Plus?

Your main store plus 9 expansion stores are included in the platform fee. Additional stores cost $300 a month each, or a revenue share across all stores.

Is Shopify Plus cheaper than Advanced at high volume?

It can be, but only through processing fees. If you use a third-party gateway, the drop to 0.20% scales with revenue and can offset a large share of the premium. If you use Shopify Payments, that saving does not apply and the case has to come from features and support instead.

Does Shopify Plus have a setup fee?

Shopify does not publish a separate setup fee for the platform. The real implementation cost is the work — migration, checkout build, integrations — which is quoted per project and is usually the larger number in year one.
