Little is a high-end children's boutique in Portland, Maine. Honoring the magic of childhood, Little offers high-quality, beautifully made children’s ware that inspires joy.
As a boutique with a wide catalog and tens of thousands of SKUs, Little needed a Shopify site designed for large catalogs and product enrichment.

We worked closely with Little's founder, Angela Foddrill, to develop a website that married best practices with the most important elements of her merchandising.
With fully featured collections and sub-collections and a navigation built around faceted search, the website serves to mimic the in-store experience as much as possible: a clean, warm, comfortable environment for product discovery and, of course, purchase.

I know we're not their only client, but the dedication and accommodation they put into this project make me feel otherwise—they're always prepared to answer our questions and address our concerns.
Angela Foddrill, Owner — Little
A children's boutique is not shopped the way its catalog is organised.
Nobody arrives at Little looking for "apparel". They are buying for a three-year-old, or for a baby shower on Saturday, or for the specific brand a friend had. Age, occasion and brand are the real axes, and a store built on conventional product categories asks the customer to translate what they want into what the site happens to have.
So the navigation was built to mirror how the shop itself works. Angela Foddrill merchandises the Exchange Street store by exactly that logic — what a parent is actually in here for — and the site was built to reproduce it rather than impose a taxonomy over the top. Faceted navigation was the mechanism. The merchandising judgement was the substance.
Revenue rose 200% at launch.
The transferable point is that the founder of a good boutique already knows the answer. They arrange it in three dimensions every day. Most of the work is asking how the shop is laid out and why, then refusing to lose that in translation.
We thought you might say that! We've been dying to meet you too.
