Little is a playful shopping experience focused on quality children’s clothing, toys, and furniture that are classic and, most importantly, special. With a brick and mortar location in Portland, Maine’s historic Old Port and a robust online store, Little has become a sought-after destination for children’s fashion and lifestyle products.
A sister company to longtime client Bliss Boutiques, Little opened in 2015. We were involved every step of the way, from branding, identity development, logo creation, to Shopify ecommerce site development and full marketing services.
Little had to stand out in the relatively crowded markets of the busy Old Port shopping district, as well as in the crowded online children’s boutique market. It was important for us to make the digital experience match the well-curated, discerning in-store experience as much as possible in a cohesive manner, while still being playful and attractive to kids and families. In addition, the ecommerce site needed to integrate with a centralized inventory and point of sale system, and one of the challenges was dealing with a large catalog of products with a high rate of turnover.
In addition to launching Little’s ecommerce platform in a tight timeframe, we delivered a full marketing suite that included an integrated email system, growing Mailchimp list, hosted email, a dynamic paid search strategy, social media configuration, local SEO, and environmental design such as in-store signage, promotions, and executing marketing campaigns. We also helped ideate in-store community events like kids’ yoga and a speaker series, designed gift cards and packaging details, and set up and streamlined shipping systems. Over the years, we’ve integrated their website several times, adding functionality that accommodates new growth and drives brand loyalty, such as implementing registries, persistent carts, and shoppable Instagram functionality.
First Pier has been there every step of the way, starting with concepting the store all the way through delivering a thriving ecommerce and in-store experience. From marketing to SEO to advertising, branding, and design, we wouldn’t be where we are today without their help.
ANGIE FODDRILL, OWNER
We helped Little go from an idea to a successful shopping experience both in store and online. Like with any of our ecommerce clients, success lies not only in launching the brand and online store, but in creating a seamless experience from start to finish — whether a customer is adding an item to their cart or employees are adding new inventory to the site. Little is a shopping experience focused on making even the smallest of details special, and this applied to our work as well.
